Comfort Food at Maxcy's Grill

By Denise Ortuno Neil

I have driven by this place a series of times, but for some reason thought that it was a chain Mexican restaurant that I been to before...must be my old age preying on my memory. What I didn't realize was that it's actually a well rounded fantastic eatery, with an old time family coffee shop flare feel....and a touch of diner.

Located in a strip mall off Hwy 111 in La Quinta, Maxcy's Grill is just a jump from Walmart and other everyday shopping, making it a convenient stop to satisfy your hunger in between your shopping adventure (and we all know that Walmart can be quite the experience).

Maxcy's Grill offers up breakfast, lunch and dinner, with menu items ranging from melt in your mouth pancakes, to fluffy omelette's, home-style meatloaf, and yes...even Mexican faves like Carne Asada and Chili Verde.

My man and I stopped by, him already having discovered their heartwarming food, and decided to order breakfast...at lunch time. And that's one of the great things about Maxcy's...no judgment; order what you want, when you want.

What appealed to me that day was their Chili & Cheddar Cheese Omelette. I added some avocado for greenery to offset the yellow and red tones. The omelette was so light that it might has well of come out elevating above the plate, and the accompanying chili was perfectly seasoned without any overpowering intimidating spice. It seriously was the best omelette that I've ever have.

My boyfriend went with the Country Benedict, a take on the traditional with a southern drawl, sausage and lots of luscious gravy. Just for fun, we shared an order of pancakes, which only rivaled my omelette in the best I've ever had.

I honestly wait in anticipation for my next visit to Maxcy's, even taking a to-go menu to stake my claim on my future selection. With great service, soul warming food and a cozy family feel, Maxcy's is definitely a Palm Springs Local favorite!
